• How did you get your start or interest in racing?
|
"I saw Keith racing at the track and decided
to try to do it, too. Bonnie bought the car for me, so that
helped a lot." |
|
• What do you remember about your first race?
|
"I remember Keith lapping me. I hit the wall
and Keith gave me a hard time - laughing at me." |
|
• What is your favorite memory or moment in racing?
|
"Two things - Winning at Wayne County
Speedway (Pikeville, NC) from the pole and knocking Steve Heath
from the pole at Coastal Plains Speedway (Jacksonville, NC). It
was the first time I had seen either track." |
|
• What is your least favorite memory or moment in
racing?
|
"I had won a race at East Carolina and my
brother came out to tell me that my wife was at the hospital."
(Webmaster Note: Bonnie had been at the
track and had an allergic reaction to a wasp sting. Brad didn't
know it until after the race, because we didn't have radios in
the car.) |
|
• What is your funniest memory or moment in racing?
|
"It was my second race ever (A-Bomber,
1997). I hit the wall about four times during that race. The
last time I hit so hard that I broke the fire extinguisher loose
from the bracket and it was rolling all under my feet. My seat
broke from the brace on one side so I was having to drive at an
angle. I went into the pits; Ricky White, Bill Price and some of
the other racers from Windsor were about to die laughing. They
were saying, "You were driving the hell out of that car, man!"
|
|
• What is your scariest memory or moment in racing?
|
"There were two times. In 2002, when I was
driving for someone else, the brake pedal came off the shaft
going into turn one. Then last year (2005), when Travis Roberson
and I got together coming off turn two and I went airborne." |
|
• What is the maddest that you have ever been in
racing?
|
"In 2005, I was watching Daddy race against
[#3] who kept blocking him. Daddy was clearly faster and had to
slam on brakes to keep from hitting him. He had already put
Daddy in the wall in turn 4. I was hot!" |
|
• Why did you choose your car number (94)?
|
"I graduated from school in 1994." |
|
• What is your all-time favorite racecar?
|
"My first Modified Street Stock (C-Bomber)
car in 1999. A 1979 Chevy Monte Carlo." |
 |
|
• What lesson have you learned because of racing?
|
"You have to setup your racecar for you.
Don't go by anyone else. You can ask for advice, but no one can
set your car up for you, but you. Listen to your butt in the
seat, not the stopwatch. |
